Frequently asked questions
Straightforward answers about how therapy works here, what to expect, and how to get started.
Are you accepting new clients?
Yes. Rising from Ashes, PLLC is currently accepting new clients when capacity allows. The quickest ways to check availability are the free 15-minute consultation, the secure client portal, a call to (701) 765-5703, or the contact form.
Do you offer in-person counseling in Minot?
Yes. Alexis Schmidt sees clients in person at 1509 2nd Ave SW Suite 2, Minot, ND 58701. If you have accessibility needs or scheduling questions, please mention them when you reach out.
Do you offer online therapy?
Yes. Telehealth is available when clinically appropriate and when you can meet from a private location. North Dakota clients may use in-person or online care; Colorado clients may be eligible for online therapy based on licensure and your situation. Always confirm your location and eligibility when you schedule.
What states do you serve?
North Dakota: in-person therapy in Minot and telehealth for eligible clients. Colorado: online therapy for eligible clients, where appropriate. If you are unsure whether you are in-network with the practice’s service area, ask during your consultation or when you first reach out.
What are your rates?
Individual sessions are $150 and couples sessions are $200. For payment options, possible documentation for out-of-network reimbursement, and whether a reduced rate may apply for regular ongoing scheduling, see the Rates & insurance page or ask during consultation.
Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes. A free 15-minute consultation is available to help you ask questions, learn how therapy works here, and decide whether to schedule a full session. It does not replace a full intake session and does not establish an ongoing therapist–client relationship by itself.
Do you take insurance?
Do not assume in-network insurance participation unless it has been confirmed for your specific plan. Many clients pay privately or use out-of-network benefits if their plan allows. Superbills may be available for you to submit to your insurer—confirm with your plan what out-of-network mental health coverage you have and what documentation they require.
What is EMDR therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a structured therapy approach often used for trauma and distressing memories. It is not the right fit for everyone. If you are curious whether EMDR could be appropriate for your goals, that can be explored during consultation and early sessions.
What can I expect in the first session?
The first session is typically focused on understanding what you are hoping for, relevant history, and what feels most pressing now. You will also discuss consent, privacy limits, and how sessions are structured. You are encouraged to ask questions at any point.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Many people benefit from therapy during stress, transitions, relationship strain, anxiety, depression, trauma recovery, or when they want support that is confidential and focused on their goals. If you are unsure, a brief consultation can help you decide your next step without pressure.
How do I book an appointment?
You can schedule through the secure client portal (linked on the Contact page and site header), call (701) 765-5703, email risingfromashespllc@gmail.com, or use the contact form. If this is an emergency, do not wait for an email response—use 911 or 988.
What if this is an emergency?
This website is not monitored for emergencies. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, you can call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Local crisis services may also be available in your area.
