About Alexis Schmidt
Alexis Schmidt, MA, LPC · Counselor, therapist, and Licensed Professional Counselor

I am Alexis Schmidt, MA, LPC, a licensed professional counselor serving clients through Rising from Ashes, PLLC. I have been in practice for 4 years, with a graduate degree from Colorado Christian University (Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy, 2023). My work is grounded in respect, emotional safety, and practical tools you can use between sessions—not quick fixes or vague advice.
People often come to therapy when something important feels stuck: anxiety that will not turn off, memories that still intrude, conflict that repeats in relationships, or transitions that have shaken your sense of stability. My role is to help you understand what is happening, build skills that fit your life, and move at a pace your nervous system can handle.
Credentials and scope
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor—not a psychologist unless separately licensed and identified as such. Licensed by the State of North Dakota as a professional counselor. Licensed to provide online therapy to clients located in Colorado, where clinically appropriate. I integrate approaches that fit your goals, including EMDR when clinically appropriate. EMDR training is consistent with EMDR International Association (EMDRIA)–informed practice.
How I work
Therapy here is collaborative. We clarify your goals, track what helps, and adjust when something is not landing. Depending on your needs, we may focus on coping skills, relationship patterns, trauma processing, or structured approaches such as EMDR when clinically appropriate.
Concerns I often support
- Trauma and PTSD, including EMDR when appropriate
- Anxiety, stress, and mood challenges
- Couples counseling and relationship repair
- Family therapy and parenting stress
- Grief, life transitions, self-esteem, and women’s issues
- Sports performance and performance-related stress
Where I practice
I offer in-person therapy in Minot at 1509 2nd Ave SW Suite 2, Minot, ND 58701. I provide telehealth for eligible clients in North Dakota and online therapy for eligible clients in Colorado, based on licensure, clinical fit, and where you are located at the time of each session. If you are unsure, we will clarify together before your first appointment.
Why clients choose this practice
Many clients tell me they want therapy that feels human: direct but kind, structured but flexible, and focused on real change—not endless venting without direction. If that resonates, we can explore whether we are a good fit in a free 15-minute consultation.
